more about carlos

Carlos grew up in Siguatepeque. He grew up close to his parents, his brother, and his grandmother. He went to grade school near his home, and that closeness shaped him early on, moving between classrooms and family, learning the values that would carry him into adulthood. It was a joyful, grounded way to grow up, and it gave him a strong sense of who he wanted to become.

Carlos first came to Just One as a scholar. What he found went beyond financial support. He gained guidance, new opportunities to learn, and a community that invested in his growth. He continued as a scholar from hight school to university.

Carlos describes the shift into high school as completely formative. New teachers, new classmates, and unfamiliar lessons made everything feel uncertain. Despite the challenge, he worked through assignments that seemed impossible and came out on the other side having discovered something about himself: resilience is something worth holding onto, in school and in life.

Having walked the path himself, Carlos brings a rare, firsthand understanding of what Just One's support can mean for a student navigating that same transition.

Carlos is still working toward his own degree, building skills he hopes will let him serve even more people down the road. His parents and grandmother taught him the values he carries with him, and discipleship with, National Director, Douglas, has continued to shape how he faces life.
